WOW: Blizzard outlines 2022 WOW ESPORTS SCHEDULE Jan-15-2022

Blizzard has laid out plans for WoW Arena as well as Mythic+ Esports in 2022.


It was a tough year for WOW Classic Gold like other Esports, because it had to get back to the internet. Although not being the top of games, Blizzard was able to handle the situation with the COVID issue and produced a strong season of competition. If everything goes according to plan 2022 will be the year that we will see an opportunity to return to at minimum 1 LAN event.


WOW Arena!

The first event will be beginning with the AWC track in March we'll have EU and NA events running during four weeks with cash prizes and points available (full calendar below). Every one of these four weekend which are referred to as cups will contribute to the overall point pool before the time to the Grand Finals. The top four teams from each region will then battle to win a prize of $300,000. At present, no date has been set in an announcement of the Grand Final, with the remaining 2022 events remaining in the in the air.


Blizzard confirmed that there would be "some special events designed to try out new ideas for developing competition in PvP". We've seen similar events on the MDI circuit It'll be fascinating to see what the AWC offers.


WOW MDI

In the time trial PvE arena of the MDI We'll be returning back to the format of group that we had in season 2. Teams from around the world will take part on time trials (registration is now open) to determine the most efficient times to be eligible for group stages. The top 24 teams (excluding China) will then be split into three groups of eight teams and the top two teams will qualify. China will be part of their own team, and only one team that will qualify. The tournament will also be called part of the Last Stand tournament, with one additional team having the chance of qualifying. Similar to the AWC Final, the global tournament will have a prize of $300,000. pool.


In the 2021 year, we saw debut to The Great Push format, and Blizzard is planning to bring it back in 2022. In 2022, we'll be seeing several "mini-season" and more information regarding the dates to be announced following the first global MDI final.


CLASSIC ARENA

Classic Arena will return once again in 2022 including European as well as North American teams taking part in the 3v3 Arena event. With a total of $100,000 in winnings, the initial tournament will kick off on February 12 with an offline bracket. It will be held on the following weekend, which runs between Friday 18 and Sunday 20.


Every one of the AWC or MDI events will again be broadcast on YouTube However, the Classic Gold Arena will probably be broadcast on Twitch. Blizzard will announce further events later in 2022 with the possibility of a coming back to LAN.
